Created in 1904, the Cartier Santos was also known as the Pilot Watch, Louis Cartier designed the timepiece for his friend, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The first Santos timepiece went on sale in 1911 and quickly became a top seller. In 1978, the Cartier company introduced the Cartier Santos Galbee XL and in 2004, Cartier marked the centenary of its iconic timepiece with the launch of the Santos 100. It was discontinued but brought back to life in 2016 as the Cartier Santos 100 XL.’
