The Cartier Tank was designed by Louis Cartier himself in 1917, and according to legend, the design was inspired by the new military tanks that fought on the battlefields during World War I. In production longer than most watches, it is easy to see why. It is an iconic masterpiece, that manages to marry classic design and modern principles. The diamonds in this watch were not set by Cartier, they have been added after, hence the term ‘After set’.
